Privacy Policy
Last Updated: July 1, 2026
GoalNote ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how GoalNote collects, uses, stores, synchronizes, and protects your information when you use our mobile application and related web services hosted on https://goalnote-1511.web.app, in strict compliance with Google Play Store policies and user-data guidelines.
1. Information We Collect
When you use GoalNote, we may collect and process the following information to provide a seamless, premium productivity experience:
- Account Information: If you use Google Sign-In or Firebase Authentication, we process your email address, full name, profile picture, and unique user identifiers solely for account management and cloud backup syncing.
- User Content: Goals, written notes, timeline milestones, specific reminders, tags, categories, and calendar associations that you create and manage in our system.
- Calendar Information: If Google Calendar synchronization is enabled, GoalNote accesses and manages calendar events on your behalf, displaying them directly in the application's calendar interface.
- Device & Ad Identifiers: To support ad-delivery operations via Google AdMob, we process basic device information, including operating system version, screen parameters, IP address, and unique advertising identifiers (e.g., Android Advertising ID / AAID).
- Local System Logs: Minor performance logs, diagnostic metadata, or offline database backups (Room database partitions) necessary to retain productivity statistics.
2. How We Use Your Information
We leverage collected credentials and local caches to power the core productivity workflows of GoalNote, specifically to:
- Provide, customize, and maintain the interactive app layout and task status controls.
- Enable secure and immediate cloud backup and cross-device synchronization.
- Deliver targeted notifications, status triggers, alarms, and early-alert prompts.
- Overlay and synchronize interactive events in your Google Calendar database.
- Serve non-obtrusive, adaptive mobile banner advertisements through Google AdMob at the bottom of key navigation views.
- Support diagnostic checking, security validation, and prevent application crashes.
3. Data Storage, Sync, and Security
GoalNote prioritizes local data sovereignty while offering secure and seamless cloud synchronization features:
- Local Storage: All user content (goals, notes, tasks) is stored locally on your physical device using Android's SQLite database via the Jetpack Room library.
- Cloud Backup & Sync: If you sign in, your data is securely uploaded and synchronized in real-time with Google Cloud Firestore and protected using Firebase Security Rules. Your data is restricted to your authenticated account and is never shared, leaked, or sold to third parties.
- Security Safeguards: We employ standard encryption standards for data in transit (HTTPS/SSL) and safeguard any local passcode configurations securely within encrypted SharedPreferences.
4. Google Calendar API Integration
If you enable Google Calendar synchronization:
- GoalNote requests Google OAuth permission to view and edit events on your calendar. This allows you to map your active goals directly into your calendar timeline.
- All requests are executed directly from your client device using secure Android Google Play Services APIs. No calendar schedules or details are transmitted to developer-owned backend servers.
- You can disable Google Calendar synchronization, remove the account linkage, or revoke permissions at any time through your Google Account permissions portal.
5. Google AdMob Integration & Advertising Disclosures
Our application integrates Google AdMob to display mobile banner advertisements on the bottom of specific screens.
- Information Collected: AdMob processes system metadata, device manufacturers, browser configurations, IP addresses, and the Android Advertising ID (AAID) to serve, track, and optimize relevant banner media.
- Ad Personalization: AdMob may serve personalized or non-personalized ads depending on your geographic location and local device configurations.
- Controlling Ad Tracking: You can choose to reset, limit, or delete your Android Advertising ID at any time by navigating to your device settings (Settings > Google > Ads > Delete/Reset Advertising ID).
6. Notifications and Reminders
GoalNote may request system permissions to trigger notifications and alarms for goal deadlines, timeline updates, and habit reminders. These alerts are initialized and run entirely locally based on the configurations you adjust in-app.
7. Data Deletion & Account Erasure (Right to be Forgotten)
You have full ownership of your data and can completely erase it at any time:
- Cloud Data Wiping: Within the Settings Screen, you can use the "Wipe Local and Backup Data" option to instantly delete your Firestore data backups and unlink your Google/Firebase authentication.
- Local Storage Wiping: Deleting local application caches (via Settings > Apps > GoalNote > Storage > Clear Storage) or simply uninstalling the application permanently deletes all your local notes, databases, and login credentials.
8. Children's Privacy
GoalNote complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly target or collect personal identifiable statistics from children under the age of 13. If you believe we have accidentally collected any credentials from a child under 13, please reach out to us and we will immediately delete that information.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes become effective once the revised document is updated and published. Continued use of GoalNote after any update indicates your voluntary acceptance of the updated privacy policy.
